Joining

Who can play KSU HVZ?

KSU HVZ is intended for eligible KSU students on the Marietta campus. Final eligibility, dates, and registration requirements should always come from official KSU HVZ staff announcements.

Do I need experience?

No. New players are welcome. The rules guide and player briefing are built to get first-time players ready before the outbreak begins.

How do I sign up?

Use the official registration instructions posted by KSU HVZ staff. Registration helps staff confirm player information, rule acknowledgement, and game-week communication.

Gameplay

Do I have to play all day?

No. HVZ fits around normal campus life. When you are outside, in an active play area, and visibly wearing your bandana, you should assume you are in play.

What happens if I get tagged?

A valid zombie tag starts a one-hour incubation period. After incubation, you move your bandana from your head to your upper arm and join the zombie team.

Can I play inside buildings?

No. Building interiors, covered entrances, roads, parking areas, vehicles, and other restricted areas are not active play. Humans cannot be tagged there, and humans cannot shoot from there.

Equipment

What can humans use?

Humans may use approved foam-dart blasters, standard soft foam darts, and clean balled-up socks. Gear should look clearly toy-like and safe.

What is not allowed?

Realistic-looking blasters, repainted blasters, unsafe modifications, painful darts, melee weapons, slingshots, conventional bows, and large attached ammo rigs are not allowed.

What if I am unsure about my gear?

Ask game staff before using it. If equipment does not clearly meet the requirements, it should be approved before play.

Help

Who makes rule calls?

KSU HVZ staff and moderators make rule calls during the event. Pause the interaction and contact staff if a dispute cannot be resolved calmly.

What if I feel unsafe?

Gameplay should stop immediately when safety is a concern. For immediate danger or dangerous behavior that could harm someone, call KSU Police at 470-578-6666.

Where can I read the full rules?

The Rules page includes the condensed player guide and a button to open the full 2025 KSU HVZ rulebook.

Still unsure?

Ask before game day, not during a chase.

Staff can answer registration, rule, equipment, and accessibility questions before the event begins.
